Daniel Thomas Seyller
June 22nd, 1948 - September 22nd, 2026
June 22nd, 1948 - September 22nd, 2026
Daniel Thomas Seyller, age 78, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Dan was born on June 22, 1948, to Glenn and Carolyne Seyller of Plato Center, Illinois. He was a humble, quiet, and soft-hearted man whose gentle nature and caring heart touched the lives of those who knew him. He was not someone who needed to be the center of attention. Instead, he found joy in the simple things in life and in spending time with the people he loved.
Dan proudly served his country during his military service. At just 18 years old, he volunteered for the draft and began his service with a commitment that would ultimately lead to additional time in the military in exchange for further training. He served two hazardous tours of duty—one in the DMZ in Korea and another in Vietnam. Dan was proud of his service and was grateful for the opportunity to serve his country. His military service was an important part of his life and a source of pride that he carried with him throughout the years.
Following his military service, Dan devoted many years to his working career. He worked for Toastmaster for more than 20 years and later worked for Kraft Foods for 15 years. After retiring, Dan enjoyed a quieter pace of life. He was happiest spending time at home, watching football, listening to music, and attending family dinners, gatherings, and activities.
Dan was an avid football fan and greatly enjoyed watching the NFL. He had a special fondness for both the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding pleasure in spending time outdoors.
Music was another special part of Dan's life. He loved listening to music, and some of his favorite groups included Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin. Whether enjoying music at home or simply relaxing, these were among the things that brought him happiness.
Most importantly, Dan had a love for Jesus Christ. He believed in Jesus and carried the love of Christ in his heart and soul.
Dan is survived by his wife, Suza Seyller; his daughters, Sonda Stuart and Brenda Lewis; his grandchildren, Thomas Lewis, Reghan Phillips (Stuart), and Ean Stuart; and his great-grandchildren, Elyjah Stuart, Navy Stuart, and Banyan Phillips. He is also survived by his sister, Diana Chamberlain, and his brother, Chuck Seyller.
Dan will be remembered for his quiet and humble spirit, his soft heart, his love for his family, and his pride in his country. He did not need a loud presence to make an impact. His life was reflected in the quiet ways he loved, served, provided, and simply enjoyed being with the people who mattered most to him.
He leaves behind a family who will miss his presence, his quiet ways, and the simple moments they shared with him. His memory will live on in the stories, traditions, music, family gatherings, and love that he leaves behind.
Rest peacefully, Dan. Your service is complete, your work is done, and you are now home with your Savior.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9th, 2026 at 1pm at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
